Special Olympics Pakistan and Legends Arena Join Forces to Enhance Access to Sports Karachi, Pakistan - February 27, 2024 - Special Olympics Pakistan (SOP) and Legends Arena are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 27, 2024, marking a significant milestone in promoting inclusivity and accessibility in sports. The MoU was signed by the legendary Squash Player Jahangir Khan, Chairperson Legends Arena, and Ms. Ronak Lakhani, Chairperson Special Olympics Pakistan, symbolizing a commitment to providing unparalleled opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Under this partnership, Special Olympics Pakistan athletes and members will gain access to the state-of-the-art facilities offered by Legends Arena, Karachi's premier destination for sports and entertainment. These facilities include Futsal, Padel Courts, Cricket, and Jogging Track providing a diverse range of options for athletes and enthusiasts alike. "We are thrilled to partner with Special Olympics Pakistan in their mission to promote sports and empower individuals with intellectual disabilities," remarked Mr. Jahangir Khan, Chairperson Legends Arena. "By opening our doors to SOP athletes, we aim to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and can excel in their respective sports." THANK YOU BANK ALFALAH!The inaugural winter sports training and selection camp at Khanaspur was an incredible success, and we couldn't have done it without the generous support of Bank Alfalah! Over 8 days, 19 talented athletes from different regions of Pakistan honed their competition skills in the Special Olympics Winter Sports - Snowshoeing and Cross-country Skiing, while engaging in personal development activities. Special Olympics Pakistan’s youth leaders Syeda Humaira Kazim and Yumna Masood representing the Asia Pacific at the Global Youth Leadership Council (2023 - 2025) attended the GYLC In-person training held at Special Olympics Headquarters in Washington D.C.
